Aleena and Sam were siblings. They lived in seventh apartment at the end of the street. Aleena a ten-year-old girl was elder than her brother Sam who was 9 years old. She liked to read stories based on suspense and mystery and Sam her brother liked to read comics and stories based on fiction. One day Mr. John who lived downstairs was passing through their flat. Sam asked Aleena why Mr. John used to be so lonely and quiet. Aleena observed him suspiciously as he passed through. Next morning, Aleena was wandering about Mr. John’s weird appearance. He had scars on his face and was skinny too. She also noted that Mr. John used to stay at his room for the whole day and was jobless.

Aleena shared her thoughts with Sam. Sam was quite bored after listenin-g it. She called herself and Sam as expert detectives. Then she started investigating about Mr. John. she also asked for Sam’s opinion. He concluded that Mr. John must be a crook and has been hiding from the police. Aleena was busy noting the points on a sheet of paper. That evening she was totally packed. She had to choose a gift for her friend’s birthday and then go for visiting an old friend of hers. 

Sam was free that evening and was planning to visit Mr. John to investigate the case further. He went downstairs and knocked at the door. ‘Open the door Mr. John.’ Sam was curious to know about him. Suddenly a man came walking holding a couple of plates and glasses and some food inside a box. He was coming from the restaurant which was right below their building. He was tall, fair, and stout man who worked in the restaurant. The man admired at Sam peculiarly. Mr. John took a long time to open the door. While the man called Mr. John and then the door opened. 

Mr. John was astonished when he saw Sam at the door. He welcomed both of them inside. Sam sat on the sofa he observed that the pillows on the sofa were scattered and not assembled. Sam also observed that Mr. John’s apartment was dirty and smelly. He did not use to clean his apartment. There was very less furniture. A couple of chairs, table, sofa, and an old-fashioned t.v. While Mr. John paid for the bill and also gave tips to the worker.The worker thanked him and went quietly. Mr. John provided a glass of water to Sam and asked what the matter was. Sam made an excuse that the watchman down was calling Mr. John.

Sam ran to his home. That night when Aleena returned home exhausted she had brought some note-pads and paper for investigating. Sam told her about the observations made by him. Sam told her that Mr. John used to live alone in his apartment and did not used to clean his apartment. He also told her that a worker used to come to provide him food and Mr. John used to pay him tips. Aleena felt very mysterious. She noted all the points that Sam told her. She thought that Mr. John was from a criminal background and the worker was a messenger for him.

Aleena was astonished by Sam’s . Aleena replies that an assistant should always cooperate to investigate the case. But Sam wasn’t. It was a irony for Sam and Aleena. Aleena was upset for Sam’s judgment and announced that this investigation was closed for ever. Sam smiled. Aleena had got a lesson that she shouldn't have suspected Mr.John without knowing anything.She crumbled and threw the paper away in which she had noted the points. She grumbled at Sam and went off to play with her friends.

From that day Aleena dared to act as an expert detective but she did not stop reading detective stories and Sam decided to be a good friend of Mr. John. So, just never try to be and expert dectective though you are not one…
